Staff Accountant (Finance)

SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant at Controlled Contamination Services plays a crucial role in supporting the finance department by performing a variety of accounting tasks. These tasks include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining accounts payable documentation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, service-oriented environment with a diverse client base.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting and Reconciliation: Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Perform account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Assistance: Support the accounts payable and receivable processes by verifying and posting transactions, ensuring timely payments to vendors, and managing collections from clients.
  • Audit and Compliance: Assist in internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors. Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Budget Support: Contribute to the budgeting process by collecting and analyzing financial information for use in planning and forecasting.
  • Tax Preparation Assistance: Assist with tax preparations and filings by compiling and organizing financial records for tax auditors and consultants.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the finance department to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and operations.
  • Ad-hoc Financial Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support senior management in making informed decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A master's degree or further certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role within a service-oriented industry dealing with multiple clients.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work meticulously and with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Time management and organizational skills, with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
