Director, Health Plan Communication (Finance)

Job Summary

Directs external communications to a complex matrix of target audiences for the company. Oversees beneficiary and provider materials and websites for company's government health care contracts with overall responsibility of contract program communications for external audiences. Works closely with other company leaders to implement communications related to change orders. Provides leadership, direction and coaching to communications staff members. Monitors content requests and deliverables to support operations and to meet government contract requirements. Tracks, evaluates and reports outcomes.

Education & Experience

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing or Communications
• 10+ years of experience in public relations, journalism or communications at a national level
• 5+ years of progressively responsible management experience leading teams and leaders
• Proven success in driving results as part of a team and leading teams
• Possesses an outstanding level of cooperation and willingness to function as part of a team and as team leader
• Experience in the creation and production of marketing, promotional and advertising materials, websites, multi-media applications, videos, and collateral materials
• Experience with content management systems
• Practical experience in crisis communication management

Preferred:

• Knowledge of military or health care industry

Key Responsibilities

• Functions as Subject Matter Expert and liaison to senior leadership on government health care contract communications campaigns.
• Functions as Point-of-Contact for dissemination of government-directed communications to external audiences, including Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, vendors, providers, patients, subcontractors, and employees.
• Serves as chief editor of patient and provider communications according to TriWest policy for materials management.
• Leads efforts for development and production of print and electronic (web, multimedia, audio/visual) patient and provider materials and websites.
• Meets with other department leaders to understand contract change orders and develop/implement communications related to those change orders.
• Actively participates in workgroups associated with contract communications; supports resulting communications needs. • Manages crisis communications in coordination with executive management for government contingency efforts.
• Monitors and reports on department outcomes, including contractual obligations and committed deliverables.
• Ensures qualitative/quantitative goals and objectives are met.
• Develops, updates, and manages communications plans, joint TriWest/government communications, and collaborative communications with government agencies.
• Represents TriWest at Editorial Advisory Board meetings. Attends key meetings dealing with TRICARE and VA communication needs.
• Directs external vendors, agencies and consultants to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Demonstrates positive leadership and coaching skills to train and develop staff, including coaching, performance evaluations, and performance development plans. • Works to continually improve and refine internal standards, guidelines, or procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of military or health care industry and contract communications; expert knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; ability to effectively interact and maintain effective working relationships with all levels and external entities; ability to consistently meet production deadlines.

Working Conditions

Working Conditions:

• Availability to work non-regular hours, including evenings and weekend events
• Works within a standard office environment, including up to 30% travel
• Accessible 24/7 via mobile phone for crisis or urgent situations
• Extensive computer work with prolonged sitting

TriWest job postings typically include a salary range, which can vary based on the specific role and location, but generally this position pay is approximately $165,000 per year.
