Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Construction Inspector (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis is currently searching for a qualified Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Construction Designer, with 10 or more years' experience to join our Resilience Water West Division based in Phoenix, AZ.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified self-motivated individual to join our Phoenix based Electrical Group in one of the premier municipal consulting firms in the country. The EI&C Designer will utilize their prior experience and expertise in construction field management, quality control of installations, report documentation, and knowledge of the National Electrical Code for inspection of various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater plant and infrastructure projects in Arizona.

The EI&C Designer will perform inspections, coordination, testing oversight, loop checks, commissioning, and verification of Contract Document compliance for medium/low voltage power distribution systems, grounding systems, lighting systems, instrumentation and controls, communications, fire alarm and security systems.

Role accountabilities:

  • Provide overall quality of work, testing procedures, inspection protocols, construction techniques and timely completion of daily inspection activities and will be responsible for inspection of materials used on projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and ordinances.
  • Reviews plans for assigned projects, observes, and inspects construction work performed by others and attends pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, safety meetings, and bid openings.
  • Provide coordination of information both written and orally, to client staff, Arcadis staff, and outside agencies.
  • Review equipment submittals provide comments to the Arcadis Electrical Group Leader or other delegated task leader.
  • Uses basic knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure compliance with Arcadis standards and those put forth in other contract documents for timely completion and quality product.
  • While performing inspection of active projects, ensure the Arcadis project safety guidelines are being met. Any noncompliant activities will be reported to the H&S Representative and/or Resident Engineer/Project Manager.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • 10 years' minimum experience in the municipal water construction industry as an Electrical Foreman or Electrical Supervisor specializing power distribution, instrumentation and controls.
  • High School Diploma.

Key Skills and Attributes:

Candidates should have extensive knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace). Strong communication skills-both oral and written-are essential, along with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with owners, construction management staff, contractors, utility company representatives, regulatory agencies, and other public and private organizations.

The candidate must be capable of preparing detailed documentation of work in progress. A basic knowledge of Primavera and/or MS Project is required, along with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

This role requires the employee to work in various weather conditions and in potentially hazardous environments commonly found on construction sites. The candidate must be able to frequently climb stairs and/or ladders, as some inspection work will take place at elevated heights

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Continuing Education Credits or Certification in Electrical Construction related area.
  • Certifications/Licenses - Ideal candidate would possess an Electrical Inspector's Certification or License.
  • OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training. and BlueBeam experience.

We offer nine paid holidays and 120 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $94,944 - $161,405. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
