F-16 Structural Maintenance Technician (Construction)

About the role
PKL Services will be providing contractor Intermediate and Depot Level maintenance in support of PMA-226, Adversary and Specialized Aircraft at Naval Air Station Fallon, NV.

The Aircraft Mechanic II (ASM) inspects, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces aircraft components including power generation, wiring, fire suppression, and environmental control systems, among others. This mechanic also performs depot-level work including inspection, refurbishment, and harvesting components prior to airframe disposal.

Key responsibilities include:

Uses metalworking equipment and tools to form, cut, bend, modify, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components or for airframe modifications. Fabricates, repairs, and assembles tubing and cable assemblies.

Assembles repairs using special fasteners and adhesives. Checks repairs for serviceability according to specifications and technical publications. Manufactures jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds.

Paints aircraft, missiles, and support equipment (SE), although the expectation for this position will require minimal painting. Identifies, removes and treats corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures. Applies corrosion protective coatings.

Maintains and inspects tools and equipment. Performs operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools.

Stores, handles and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards. Inspects structures and components and determines operational status. Interprets inspection findings, and determines corrective action adequacy.
Assembles structural parts and components to meet requirements for preserving structural integrity. Assesses damage to aircraft structural components and disassembles aircraft for disposal. Advises on structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatment with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity. Ensures aircraft CG balance is maintained.
Accurately documents all accomplished maintenance via Nalcomis/OOMA automated system and aircraft forms/logbooks.
Provides guidance and technical expertise to other technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
Expected to be key player on small team with limited career fields using cross-utilization training to accomplish tasks outside of normal categories.
Ensures that technical date usage and proper safety procedures and precautions are followed in hangar deck areas.
Performs Quality Control Inspector duties if assigned.
Any and all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Site Manager.

Required educational/skills background:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Prior qualified/certified 7-level with a minimum of two (2) years F-16 experience performing as an Aircraft Structural Maintenance Technician or Navy equivalent.
Must be able to pass a paint physical with no painting restrictions.

About you

At least six (6+) years of aircraft maintenance, modification, and repair experience of which two (2) years of experience is on F-16 aircraft.

Ability to work on a small team performing F-16 modifications and refurbishment, often performing work outside the ASM career field with appropriate training.

Perform reciprocal training for other team members as needed to assist in the ASM field.

Proficiency with NALCOMIS OOMA automated maintenance documentation system within the first 90 days of employment.

Ability to acquire and maintain all Support Equipment licenses that are required for the position.

Ability to perform all ASM work center designated tasks as outlined in the Interactive Electronic Maintenance Manual (IETM).

Knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel, including the ability to express thoughts in both oral and written communications.

Working knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2 (NAMP), Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedures (NAMSOPs) and local NAMPSOP instructions or ability to quickly grasp this knowledge after employment.

A valid State Drivers license.

U.S. citizenship.

This is a full time/ non-exempt/ non-union position.Hourly compensation discussed during the interview stage. Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position requires normal physical functions.
Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions, including the F-16 cockpit.
Normal color/depth perception and no record of emotional instability are required.
May be required to work in areas in or near a hangar/ flight line that may be noisy at times.
May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind.
May be required to wear personal protective equipment when in or passing through a hazardous area.
Office environment, hangar and flightline.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud at times.
