Global Head of Market Risk, Managing Director (Finance)



State Street Global Treasury Risk Management (GTRM) provides second line oversight of trading within our Global Markets division as well as capital, liquidity and investment risk oversight of Global Treasury activities. GTRM is a unit within the Financial Risk group of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).

We seek to hire an experienced Market Risk Manager to provide second line oversight of our trading activities within Global Markets and our asset-liability management within Global Treasury.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide independent second line oversight of the firm's asset-liability management, investment portfolio and principal trading activities within Global Markets and Treasury.

• Define risk appetite, design and calibrate limits, measure and monitor risk, identify portfolio vulnerabilities and design and execute relevant stress tests.

• Ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations.

• Drive dialogue on key risk issues with stakeholders including the first line of defense, senior management, the Board of Directors and regulators.

• Develop and implement the requisite analytical framework for risk identification, risk measurement, risk appetite definition and risk control. Work closely with model developers, model risk management and IT to implement the framework.

• Assess risks of new products and business expansion opportunities.

• Hire and develop talent. Build and lead the global team to execute the mandate.

• Lead key market risk initiatives involving regulatory remediation and analytical process development.

• Lead or participate in relevant risk committees and working groups.

An ideal candidate with have work as a trader or market risk manager within a banking, trading or investment organization. The successful individual will likely have i) direct experience with currency and interest rate risk management ii) experience managing a team and iii) strong analytical skills, if) demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to senior audiences.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 15 years of related experience in the financial services industry.

• Experience with interest rate risk (including prepayment and/or deposit modeling) at a banking organization, ideally within the trading, treasury or risk functions.

• A bachelors or advanced degree in economics, finance, a quantitative or other related field required.

• Familiarity with Foreign Exchange and Interest Rate Derivatives; in-depth knowledge of forwards, swaps, NDFs and options preferred.

• Proven experience with regulatory management and regulatory remediation.

• Strong quantitative background, experience in curve building and risk modelling.

• Strong quantitative mindset, ability to take model ownership and improve on existing risk models (Value-at-Risk, Sensitivities, Liability Characterization, back-testing).

• Demonstrated experience evaluating risks and mitigating financial risk.

• Experience in managing and developing a global team.

• Proven interpersonal and communication skills at executive level.

• Strong critical thinking ability and analytical skills.

• Team player with unquestionable integrity and ethical standards.

• Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Salary Range:
$170.000 - $282.500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
