Transition Teams Coordinator (Project Management)



The Transition Teams Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the successful transition of youth with disabilities by working with regional teams, distributing resources, and facilitating events that promote inclusive educational practices. The candidate will assist in improving the quality and monitoring of transitional activities and events throughout the state.  The ideal candidate will need to be organized, skilled in communication, and passionate about improving outcomes for students with disabilities.  The role involves working closely with the established Oklahoma Transition Teams and the Oklahoma Transition Council.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversee the administrative activities of a designated program or programs.
  • Responsible for daily program operations including staff supervision, program evaluations, and developing long-range plans.
  • Collects and analyzes data and prepares reports.
  • Ensures compliance with program regulations.
  • Develop and administer budgets for assigned projects and programs.
  • Negotiates and administers grants and contracts.
  • Plans and oversees project management.
  • Develop policies and procedures.

 Program Promotion & Outreach:

  • Promote transition-related activities, resources, and events throughout Oklahoma, ensuring statewide engagement and awareness of regional efforts to support students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the visibility and impact of transition programs, particularly within local school districts and communities. 

Resource Development & Distribution:

  • Develop, distribute, and track educational materials and resources to regional transition teams and NCDET to ensure consistency and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with the Oklahoma Transition Council to support the design and distribution of materials for the annual Oklahoma Transition Institute. 

Data Collection & Monitoring:

  • Support the tracking and evaluation of transition team activities, identifying successful initiatives for replication and expansion across the state.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to refine transition strategies and guide best practices for team planning.

Collaboration & Networking:

  • Build strong partnerships with state and local agencies, advocacy groups, and community organizations to align transition efforts and achieve shared goals.
  • Engage with national and local networks focused on youth with disabilities to share knowledge, stay informed on best practices, and increase the impact of Oklahoma's transition programs.
  • Work directly with transition teams to develop and implement their team planning tools. 

Project Coordination:

  • Assist in coordinating and expanding Project SEARCH programs in Oklahoma.

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree, AND: 

  • 48 months of related experience.

Equivalent/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of experience instead of a bachelor's degree to equal 96 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong ability to analyze data and produce reports.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proven experience in organizing, managing, and evaluating transition programs and related events.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working with youth, with disabilities, in educational, career development, or transition planning settings.
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma's education system, disability services, and postsecondary transition programs.

Required Working Conditions:

  • Sits for prolonged periods.
  • Communicate effectively.

  • Standard office environment.
  • Ability to travel throughout Oklahoma for in-person meetings and events as needed.

Departmental Preferences: 

  • Master's Degree
