Dean, Taneja College of Pharmacy and Senior Associate Vice President, USF Health (Finance)

The University of South Florida (USF), a metropolitan, research-intensive institution recently inducted into the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), is seeking an accomplished leader to serve as the next CEO Dean of the Taneja College of Pharmacy and Senior Associate Vice President, USF Health.

The Dean/SAVP serves as the chief academic officer for the College, acting as a steward to promote the best interests of student pharmacists and patients while continuing to achieve the College's strategic and developmental goals. The Dean/SAVP articulates a vision for the College to enhance its reputation and generate support from donors, lawmakers, and University leaders.

The Dean/SAVP provides strategic vision and operational leadership to all aspects of the TCOP academic and scholarly programs.Experience and Professional Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Dean/SAVP of the USF Taneja College of Pharmacy will possess the following background, experience, and skills:

  • A PharmD and/or PhD with eligibility for pharmacist licensure in the State of Florida preferred.
  • A distinguished academic record commensurate with the appointment at full professor (tenure optional)
  • A demonstrable record of successful leadership, communication, team building, and superior organizational skills within a complex and diverse organization.
  • A record of active engagement with community, health, academic, and business organizations
  • A practical and deep understanding of pharmacy practice, research, and policy and the demonstrated experience to negotiate clinical practice agreements
  • The demonstrated capability to support faculty research endeavors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.

Academic Leadership

  • Serve as the chief academic officer of the Taneja College of Pharmacy, providing leadership to advance its academic mission.
  • Drive the educational vision for the College, ensuring students are equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills to thrive in a dynamic, technology-driven healthcare marketplace.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence, promoting innovative teaching methodologies and interprofessional education to prepare student pharmacists for pharmacy practice today and tomorrow in the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

Strategic Vision
  • Advance the practice of pharmacy locally in Tampa Bay, throughout Florida, and nationally, positioning the College as a leader in transforming healthcare.
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with university units, healthcare systems, industry leaders, and community organizations to enhance the College's impact and resources.
  • Represent the College to external stakeholders, including donors, lawmakers, and professional organizations, to elevate its reputation and secure support for its initiatives.
  • Promote the integration of advanced technologies into pharmacy education and practice to meet evolving healthcare demands.

Operational Oversight
  • Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional students, faculty, and staff to foster excellence, growth, and innovation.
  • Oversee and implement sound fiscal policies and procedures to ensure the College's financial sustainability and long-term success.
  • Maintain the College's accreditation status with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), ensuring compliance with all standards.

Research and Innovation Leadership
  • Develop and implement a strategic research plan to advance grant funding, interdisciplinary collaboration, and measurable innovation outcomes at the College
  • Secure external funding through grants, industry partnerships, and philanthropy to support cutting-edge research at the College.
  • Foster a culture of research excellence, encouraging faculty and student participation in high-impact studies that address pressing healthcare challenges.
