Lead Boiler/Kiln Operator (Maintenance)

Responsibilities

Training of all kiln/boiler tenders on operation, environmental compliance, and reporting procedures.

Build lumber drying schedules, implementing schedules, observing kiln drying operations, adjust schedules as needed.

Testing lumber moisture content, prong tests and oven dry tests.

Evaluation of drying defect.

Record keeping of volume of dried charges.

Create and/or revise standard operating procedures as necessary.

Create and/or revise preventative maintenance (PM) plans for all boiler/esp/kiln maintenance.

Work with other departments to move the Boise Improvement Cycle process forward.

Responsible for cost controls, housekeeping, and effective planning for work execution.

Monitor downtime and recommend necessary improvements.

Ordering of operating and maintenance supplies.

Cover shifts as needed.

Qualifications

Understanding of operational and environmental compliance for boiler operations and demonstrated ability to meet compliance regulations. Basic trouble shooting skills for Boiler, ESP, and all mechanical equipment involved in the process. Demonstrate knowledge of dry kiln operations to include mechanical (fans, traps, baffles, vents, motors). Ability to work and communicate well with others and facilitate change. Must be safety minded, possess good organization, planning and oral/written communication skills. Possess leadership skills related to coaching, training, and promoting a culture that supports company values/principles. Must be certified on forklift and front-end loader.
