Certified & Non-Certified Ski and Snowboard Instructor (Full and Part-Time Seasonal) (Education)



SUMMARY

Teach lessons in the Grand Targhee Ski & Snowboard School program and act as a Snowsports ambassador with guests around the resort. Instructors are responsible for providing safe, fun, and professional lessons to guests of all ages and ability levels, creating an exceptional learning experience while promoting a lifelong love of Snowsports. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach skiing or snowboarding lessons in group or private settings to children, teens, and adults. Provide clear demonstrations and personalized feedback to help guests progress in their skills. Ensure a safe learning environment by following and enforcing all resort safety policies. Deliver excellent guest service, patience, and enthusiasm while fostering a positive atmosphere. Assist guests with equipment, lift loading/unloading, and navigating resort facilities. Represent the resort professionally on and off the slopes. Participate in staff training and ongoing professional development. Flexible working hours. Some job sharing may be required. Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY

Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests at all times. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resorts Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK SCHEDULE

Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Level 1 PSIA/AASI

PSIA=Professional Ski Instructor's Association AASI = American Association (of) Snowboard Instruction

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ski or snowboard confidently for multiple hours per day at an intermediate/advanced level.

Must be able to provide physical assistance to students during instruction, including helping them stand, regain balance, or get up after falling on slopes of varying difficulty.

Must be able to perform job duties outdoors in cold, windy, and snowy conditions for extended periods of time without access to shelter, while remaining physically active.

Must be able to demonstrate ski or snowboard techniques dynamically and repeatedly at various speeds and difficulty levels as needed during lessons.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.
