Sr. Director-Enterprise Architecture (Primarily Remote, North Carolina Based) (Project Management)



This position will allow the successful candidate to work a schedule that will be primarily remote. While there is no expectation of being in the office routinely,  they will be required to report to the Alliance Home Office (Morrisville, North Carolina) for business meetings as needed.  The desired candidates will be a resident of North Carolina or if currently residing out of state, able to relocate for the position. 

The Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for developing and leading the enterprise architecture vision and operating model across business, application, data, and technology domains. This role ensures that the organization's architecture practice delivers strategic value and enables digital transformation, platform modernization, and innovation.

The Senior Director also serves as the executive leader of the Salesforce Center of Excellence (CoE), providing governance, alignment, and strategic direction to maximize the value of the Salesforce platform across all departments. This includes oversight of program management, solution delivery, governance, adoption, and ongoing support activities in alignment with business goals.

 Responsibilities & Duties

Lead Enterprise Architecture Vision and Execution

  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy aligned with organizational objectives
  • Translate business strategy into future-state architectures and multi-year transformation roadmaps
  • Lead architectural governance and technology selection across domains

Direct the Salesforce Center of Excellence (CoE)

  • Chair the Salesforce CoE and provide executive leadership to ensure alignment between IT and business stakeholders
  • Establish the CoE's operating model, governance structure, release cadence, and backlog prioritization
  • Ensure best practices in platform governance, DevOps, data architecture, user adoption, release management, and vendor coordination
  • Support platform scalability, performance, and integration with core enterprise systems

Align Technology and Business Strategy

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop architectures that support emerging business models, operational efficiency, and customer value
  • Guide investment planning, assess disruptive trends, and inform scenario-based strategy execution

Drive Modernization and Innovation

  • Oversee architecture initiatives for cloud adoption, system integration, digital engagement, and data strategy
  • Promote agile, product-centric delivery models and support federated innovation
  • Partner with Data and AI leaders to align analytics, automation, and insight capabilities with architectural frameworks

Promote Architectural Thinking and Capability Building

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of enterprise and solution architects
  • Instill architectural thinking across delivery teams, product managers, and business units
  • Champion design standards, reference architectures, and reusable frameworks

Communicate EA Value and Performance

  • Measure and report architecture's business value and alignment with strategic goals
  • Represent EA and CoE initiatives to the executive steering committee and operating governance forums
  • Lead continuous improvement of EA and CoE practices, services, and maturity

Manage and Develop Staff

  • Work with Human Resources to attract, maintain, and retain a highly qualified and well-trained workforce
  • Ensure staff are well trained in and comply with all organization and department policies, procedures, and business processes
  • Organize workflows and ensure staff understand their roles and responsibilities
  • Ensure the department has the needed tools and resources to achieve organizational goals and to support employees and ensure compliance with licensure, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
  • Actively establish and promote a positive, diverse, and inclusive working environment that builds trust 
  • Ensure all staff are treated with respect and dignity
  • Ensure standards are transparent and applied consistently, impartially, and ethically over time and across all staff members
  • Work to resolve conflicts and disputes, ensuring that all participants are given a voice
  • Set goals for performance and deadlines in line with organization goals and vision
  • Effectively communicate feedback and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to staff and support a learning environment to advance team skills and professional development
  • Cultivate and encourage efforts to expand cross-team collaboration and partnership

Communication and Collaboration

  • Work closely with IT, Business Operations, Clinical Operations, and Member & Provider Service Operations teams
  • Partner with data engineers to ensure robust data pipelines and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with external vendors and consultants as needed
  • Facilitate cross-functional data initiatives and projects
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • Engage with product management teams to support the design, development, and deployment of data solutions

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of data management experience in with a minimum five (5) years in a leadership role.

Preferred:

Master's degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in data management with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of data management, data interoperability, and data operations tools (e.g., SQL, ETL processes, data warehousing technologies, etc.).
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare data and analytics, including claims, clinical, and operational data.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing data teams.
  • Experience with data governance and regulatory compliance in the healthcare sector.
  • Experience developing training and development plans to ensure project success
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams
  • Experience conducting data analysis on databases/data sets

Employment for this position is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and credit check, which will be performed after acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to the employee's start date. 

Salary Range 

$149,193.00- 190,222.00/Annually 

Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
