Staff Inbound Content Marketing Strategist - Global Software and Informatics (Finance)

Position Summary:

The Staff Inbound Content Marketing Strategist is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing content marketing strategies for Illumina's Software and Informatics Portfolio that attract, engage, and convert target audiences. This role combines creative storytelling with analytical insights to drive organic traffic, improve search engine performance, and generate high-quality leads. This individual will work cross-functionally with software and informatics product marketing and product teams, as well as broader Illumina marketing teams to ensure content aligns with business goals and resonates with the intended audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft comprehensive content strategies that align with overall business objectives and target customer personas.
  • Work with Product Marketers to build and maintain an aggregate editorial calendar that schedules content planning, creation, and distribution across multiple digital channels.
  • Oversee the end-to-end process of content creation, including ideation, writing, editing, and publishing blog posts, white papers, case studies, infographics, webinars, and multimedia content.
  • Integrate SEO best practices into all content to boost organic search visibility and drive qualified traffic.
  • Identify and analyze buyer personas, mapping the customer journey to inform content themes and messaging.
  • Tailor content to engage distinct audience segments and nurture leads throughout their journey-from initial discovery to conversion and retention.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for inbound content campaigns and regularly monitor metrics such as website traffic, engagement, conversion rates, and lead quality.
  • Use data analytics tools to gauge campaign performance and iterate strategies based on actionable insights.
  • Partner closely with SEO specialists, graphic designers, social media teams, and product marketing to ensure cohesive messaging and optimal content distribution.
  • Coordinate with sales and customer success teams to gather feedback and fine-tune content strategies in alignment with evolving market needs.
  • Plan and execute multi-channel content distribution and promotion strategies, including email marketing, social media amplification, influencer outreach, and paid content boosts when necessary.
  • Implement lead-generation strategies that encourage audience engagement and funnel prospects toward conversion.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, content marketing best practices, and emerging digital tools to continuously refine the inbound content strategy.
  • Conduct competitor and audience research to identify new opportunities and anticipate market shifts.
  • Manage content marketing budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and maximum return on investment for content initiatives.

Experience/Education:

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or related field; or 6 years and master's degree; or 3 years and PhD.
  • 3+ years of experience in content marketing, preferably with a focus on inbound strategies.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in developing and executing successful inbound marketing campaigns that have driven measurable growth.
  • Proficiency with content management systems, SEO tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM systems such as HubSpot, Marketo, or Salesforce Account Management.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities are important.
  • Analytical mindset with the capacity to interpret performance data and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Up to date with the latest digital marketing trends, social media algorithms, and best practices in SEO and content marketing.

The estimated base salary range for the Staff Inbound Content Marketing Strategist - Global Software and Informatics role based in the United States of America is: $115,800 - $173,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
