POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager is responsible for the property's overall success, ensuring high levels of guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, team leadership, and financial performance. Reporting to senior management, this role oversees daily operations and serves as the face of the resort.
The General Manager:
Operations & Guest Experience
- Oversee daily resort operations, including front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and service standards are met across all areas.
- Respond promptly to guest concerns and ensure a positive customer experience.
- Conduct property inspections and ensure issues are promptly resolved.
- Monitor online reviews and guest feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Team Leadership & Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and schedule staff across departments.
- Conduct performance reviews and implement coaching or disciplinary action as needed.
- Foster a collaborative, service-driven culture aligned with company values.
- Lead regular team meetings and ensure clear internal communication.
Financial & Strategic Management
- Develop and manage annual budgets; monitor revenues and expenses to meet financial targets.
- Review financial statements, adjust operations as needed to achieve profitability goals.
- Oversee inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
- Ensure billing and reservations accuracy.
- Analyze demand, occupancy trends, and competition for effective rate and yield management.
- Develop and execute strategic marketing and sales plans to drive occupancy, increase revenue across all departments, and enhance brand visibility through digital, corporate, and partnership channels.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with corporate accounts, travel agents, and event planners to secure repeat business and expand the hotel's market reach.
The General Manager may also:
- Support departments as needed, including front desk coverage or guest assistance.
- Collaborate on local sales and marketing efforts.
- Maintain documentation and compliance with brand and company standards.
- Uphold a culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Education/Credentials
Education & Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field required.
- Minimum 2 years of hotel/resort management experience at a similar-sized property.
- Previous experience with Choice Hotels systems and standards are preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in budgeting, revenue management, and guest satisfaction metrics.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based in a busy resort setting and may involve occasional local travel. The General Manager must be comfortable working in a dynamic, guest-facing environment with frequent interruptions and a flexible schedule.
