Analyst I (II) (Engineering)



*Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid*

The Interconnection Construction Management department coordinates and facilitates the interconnection of new generation and merchant transmission projects to the PJM system and the installation of network upgrades to ensure the long-term reliability and adequacy of the PJM system. The department coordinates, with the transmission owning companies and the project developers, the engineering of all transmission expansion related activities associated with the interconnection of new generation resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains, cultivates and coordinates internal and external relationships

  • Completes general administrative tasks utilizing the MSOffice suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Assist departmental engineers in support of analytical studies and project tracking including the processing of queue pre-applications

  • Provides support, including the development of agreements and data requests from the database in support of the engineers and manager of the Interconnection Projects Department

  • Maintain electronic and paper department and division files and records

  • Assist in maintaining the PJM Planning web site as an accurate source of information for all related planning activities

  • Support the generation and merchant transmission interconnection process including database support, process completed studies and executed contracts

  • Serves as the first point of contact for new customers that have questions about the interconnection process

  • Process incoming New Service Requests and study agreements per the timing required by the PJM OATT

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using division support tools to prepare various documents, such as SAP Check Requests and Purchase Requisitions according to established company procedures.

  • Work with project area team leads to coordinate the New Services Queue schedule between the Interconnection Projects and Interconnection Analysis departments

  • Consolidates improvements and produces effective change initiatives to the interconnection process and the department's capital support tools such as the Planning Application, Queue Center and Queue Point

  • Maintains an exceptional level of customer focus

  • Knowledge of PJM's Interconnection process and the ability to guide prospective customers

  • Ability to generate reports on interconnection data and process pre-applications

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the department's business practices for capital tool development and feature enhancements

Characteristics & Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Experience using verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions

  • Experience supporting any of PJM Committees

  • Experience in coordinating and planning large events

  • Experience with SAP
