Soccer Sports Team Member - Woodbury (Creative Design)



Do you have a passion for youth soccer? Are you passionate about working with kids? Come join our YMCA Soccer Staff! As a Soccer Team Member, you provide feedback on execution and direction during soccer practices and games. Soccer Team Members will develop goals for the sports team as well as individual goals. Soccer Team Members will inspire and prepare players with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning.
As a Soccer Team Member, you will respond to parents and team concerns, respond to incidents, and interact with parents and participants. The Soccer Team Member provides a high level of customer service and ensures a safe and positive program environment.
The Soccer Team Member may assist with data entry for registration and games using the team database. The Soccer Team Member will maintain sports equipment. This role will require knowledge of soccer fundamentals. The Soccer Team Member will need to be self-directed, organized and dependable to meet the needs of the sports program and participants.
The hourly salary range for this position is at $16.00. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary.

1. Essential Functions:

Set up and lead team soccer activities including all scheduled practices and games.
Lead special programs and activities as required.
Attend all coach meetings and trainings.
Communicate important information regarding practices and games to all players.
Adhere to YMCA policies, rules and objectives.
Follow emergency procedures and complete accident reports as necessary.
Maintain and assume responsibility for all soccer equipment.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship and lead by example among volunteers, team parents and participants to support the responsibilities of the officials and sports leadership.
Work to establish and improve team unity and spirit.

2. Relationships:
This position reports to the Director of Soccer who reports to the Executive Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with staff, members, volunteers and the community. This position requires regular interaction with youth, families, and seniors from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
3. Qualifications:
Required

Coaching experience at any level (preferably two (2) years of exp)
Working knowledge of soccer
Ability to complete online concussion training within 30 days of hire.
Must be self-directed, motivated, dependable and organized
Ability and interest in working with people of diverse backgrounds
Strong communication and mediation skills

Preferred

Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen

4. Work Conditions:

Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
Ability to travel locally to visit branch sites for away games, and to attend meetings/trainings.
May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
Must be able to actively participate in games/activities.
