Vice President, Pricing and Trade (Finance)

What You'll Do

The Vice President of Pricing & Trade will lead the strategic direction for the Pricing, Trade Lane, and Contracts teams, ensuring clear performance metrics are established and that analytics are both insightful and actionable to drive organizational goals 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for Pricing, Trade Lane, and Contracts functions by delivering actionable insights and performance analyses that support core business operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales team to develop, implement, and optimize pricing and promotional strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, profitability, and trade lane expansion, and drive strategic initiatives to enhance market position and long-term success.
  • Partner with Finance to establish revenue and contribution targets for Sales, Customer Service, and Pricing.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of compensatory rates to ensure trade lane stability and rate competitiveness.
  • Monitor contract execution, tariff filings, and regulatory compliance across the division.
  • Act as the company's senior representative in industry and governmental forums and participate in high-level internal and external meetings with customers, competitors, and industry leaders.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions for contract and rate management, including systems that streamline the Quote-to-Contract process and improve business performance.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Ocean FCL service trade lanes, providing guidance internally and representing the company's capabilities to external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
  • Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, or related discipline; equivalent combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. MBA preferred.
  • Experience: 10 years of relevant experience including 5 years of experience in developing and executing pricing strategies, methods, and tools. Proven experience driving strategic changes, leading teams, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Develop and implement successful, complex pricing structures. Identify complex problems, analyze related information, and evaluate options to implement effective solutions. Demonstrate strong customer service skills in various interactions. Prepare, monitor, and administer budgets; perform detailed financial analyses. Collaborate effectively within teams or cross-functional groups. Identify and document emerging trends and assess their potential impact on the organization. Apply statistical methods and concepts in pricing models and forecasting. Understand and leverage various competitive pricing strategies.
