Operations Intern - Vineyard (R&D)

JOB SUMMARY

This position will assist in the execution of our technical viticulture program across our Central Coast Vineyards. Working with the Viticulture and Operations Management Teams, monitor and evaluate viticulture practices including pesticides, fertilizers, crop estimation, data collection, and vine management (pruning, thinning, heading, irrigation, pesticide and fertilizer applications) programs on owned and leased vineyards to provide consistent, high-quality, cost-effective fruit that meets winemaking objectives. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collection and organization of all viticulture data.
  • Data Reporting.
  • Interpreting viticulture data with vineyard management team (including both viticulture and operations team members).
  • Supporting Lean, Sustainability and Compliance programs.
  • Assist with any trial work.
  • Attend relevant viticulture seminars and continuing education to stay current on vineyard issues.
  • Training and overseeing seasonal help.
  • Support vineyard team in adhering to Viticulture Policies and following standard procedures.
  • Build and maintain culture of health and safety. Ensure that health and safety policies are met, where possible exceeded.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • AA or higher degree in Ag related field of study.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Computer skills / MS Office.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must have a sense of humor and the ability to be a team player.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Works outdoors/indoors.
  • Works in warm and cold climates.
  • Works on wet and muddy surfaces.
  • Works in flat and hillside environments.
  • Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic.
  • Must be able to move up to 55 lbs.
  • Primary environment with be outdoors with some office work.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a car and ATV/UTV.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Pay Range Posted: $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position related factors.
