Pilot Plant Technician (Manufacturing)

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Pilot Plant Technician to conduct specific chemical and metallurgical tests in laboratory, piloting, and plant settings, ensuring accurate data collection and observations. Maintain Doe Run equipment to ensure safe operation. This position is located in the heart of Mark Twain National Forest in Viburnum, MO at our Exploration and Development Division.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems, repair and maintain equipment and assist in the installation of new equipment and the modification of existing equipment.
  • Run tests for the purpose of calculating recoveries. Calculate recoveries based on test results.
  • Conduct/maintain laboratory, piloting, and plant experiments and equipment. Set up experiments and collect data/samples in lab and plant settings.
  • Input data for spreadsheets, graphs, and reports on tests run for different projects.
  • Provide experimental feedback and results through verbal communication and documents.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, associate's degree preferred.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience maintaining chemical and/or mechanical equipment, lab or plant setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Basic knowledge of chemical/production processes and procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical repairs, pump repairs, pipe fitting, fabrication, and construction maintenance.

  • Basic chemical and/or metallurgical knowledge.

  • Proficient skill in using small hand tools, advanced measuring, and basic mathematical calculations.

Work Environment, Physical & Lifting Requirements:

  • Occasionally works near moving, mechanical parts, vibration, and wear PPE including respirator, head protection, eye protection, and foot protection. Exposed to loud noise levels.
  • Regularly requires standing and walking. Occasionally requires sitting, talking, hearing, grasping, pushing, climbing, repetitive motion with wrists and/or fingers, and reaching with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, three dimensional vision, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 15 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
