Sr Research Scientist – Inhaled Drug Delivery/MDI (Finance)

To continue building our position in healthcare and life sciences, we have an exciting opening for a technical expert in inhaled applications as Senior R&D Engineer Scientist.

The successful candidate will drive adoption of our sustainable Honeywell Solstice® Air medical propellant by developing technical expertise, building customer relationships, identifying unmet industry needs, and navigating the regulatory environment. This role will involve working with global, cross-functional teams to develop new applications and expand internal expertise in inhaled formulations.

LOCATION: Buffalo, NY

DOMESTIC RELOCATION SUPPORT PROVIDED: (Employees must reside 50+ miles from the site to be eligible for the relocation benefits)

The annual base salary range for this position is $137,000 to $144,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.YOU MUST HAVE:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 5+ years of R&D experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, with a preference for aerosol development.
• 3+ years of experience in inhalation science/research.

WE VALUE:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or biology.
• In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical actives and excipients, particularly in respiratory therapies.
• Experience in MDI formulation development.
• Understanding of IP portfolio management and landscape, with preferred experience in filing patents.
• Experience in managing lab personnel, third-party vendors, consultants, or contract research organizations.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Strong technical presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
• Self-driven and proactive in developing, proposing, and executing technical programs.
• Strong ability to collaborate across commercial, technical, and clinical teams.
• Proven ability to influence and motivate teams without direct authority.
• Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in designing experimental studies and writing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Willingness to relocate to Buffalo, NY area.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive Customer Adoption: Lead the adoption of Honeywell Fluorine Products' propellants in inhaled applications to support global short- and long-term growth.
• Formulation Development: Develop proof-of-concept metered dose inhaler (MDI) formulations using Honeywell propellants and conduct industry-standard testing to evaluate performance.
• Intellectual Property & Research: Lead research initiatives to develop and protect intellectual property (IP) related to inhaled applications, ensuring Honeywell's competitive position.
• Regulatory & Industry Engagement: Work closely with customers, industry partners, third-party labs, trade organizations, and regulatory bodies worldwide to facilitate adoption and compliance.
• New Product Development: Identify growth opportunities in medical aerosol applications and initiate NPD projects in collaboration with the commercial team through the stage-gate process.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with global, multidisciplinary teams to drive product innovation and market expansion.
• Technical Communication: Regularly update global project teams, present technical findings, and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Travel & External Engagement: Travel up to 10% annually for customer interactions, industry events, and regulatory discussions.About Us
