Electronics Engineering Technician (Finance)



Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is looking for an Engineering Technician working under the Lead Engineering Technician with hands-on experience with electronics testing, troubleshooting, and repair. This is a largely hands-on position, with a focus on hand soldering, assembly, and electrical testing. Responsibilities also include developing documentation, expressing/organizing test results, and technical support to manufacturing.

The hired candidate will work with the Lead Engineering Technician in an electronics lab space, which they will maintain and develop along with all the equipment therein. This is a fast-paced position requiring flexibility, with work dictated by a practical need to support current manufacturing/sales goals and a separate drive toward next-generation product development.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performing testing, troubleshooting, and repair of current Persistent Systems embedded electronic products, following existing test procedures to both support manufacturing and sales goals
  • Assist in the development of electronic prototypes, working with Lead Engineering Technician and engineers of differing disciplines to carry out new test & debug methods
  • Documentation: Creating or updating drawings, presentations, and guides
  • Organizing, developing, and maintaining lab space and equipment

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2yr Technology Degree or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to read, review and mark up electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to create/update rudimentary cable and wire harness drawings and general diagrams
  • Experience soldering through-hole components and 0402-sized surface mount technology (SMT) PCB components
  • Strong communication skills, as expressed through both professional conversation and ability to document/present complex ideas electronically.
  • Applicant must be able to obtain a US security clearance or already have a US security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate experience with Linux
  • Knowledge of internal and external data buses such as SPI, I2C, LAN, USB, PCIe, etc.
  • Intermediate experience and comfort with standard lab electrical test equipment (oscilloscope, variable benchtop power supply, several multimeter functions, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a great deal of autonomy
  • Experience soldering 0201 SMT PCB components

The base pay for this role can vary from $80,000 to $90,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
