Multimedia Journalist, KTVQ (Media)



Are you ready to take your journalism career to the next level? KTVQ, the Scripps-owned station in Billings, MT, is looking for a dynamic Multimedia Journalist to join our news team. This is a new position at our station, offering an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills and advance their career in a supportive environment while living in one of Montana's most beautiful regions.

As a Multimedia Journalist at KTVQ, you'll be on the front lines of local news coverage, telling the stories that matter most to our Montana viewers across all platforms.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Develop compelling story ideas from news leads, news tips, and community events
  • Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research
  • Organize material and write stories following prescribed editorial style and format standards
  • Shoot video and still photos to illustrate your stories
  • Edit videos for broadcast and digital platforms
  • Appear on television for taped interviews and narration
  • Deliver live reports from the field and mobile broadcast units
  • Work cooperatively with photographers when assigned to your stories
  • Assist news producers in preparing newscasts
  • Collaborate with the digital team to create content for multiple platforms

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
  • Proficiency with newsroom computer systems
  • Experience with videography and non-linear editing
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
  • Ability to edit on Final Cut Pro or similar systems
  • Skills in posting content to various websites
  • Self-motivation and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Driving required. Valid Driver's License, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
