Supervisor - Technical Services (Finance)



Position Description

Primary purpose:
• To provide technical guidance, problem resolution, design support and supervision for safe operation, maintenance and repair of crude oil gathering and transmission facilities focusing primarily on rotating equipment, controls, and facility systems, all in accordance with Company standards.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Supervise technicians in the analysis and review of equipment and facility performance identifying opportunities for improvement through developing or enhancing of operating and maintenance procedures and equipment modifications, additions or replacement.
• Analyze equipment failures, develop corrective actions, and participate in the root cause failure analysis either by providing direct leadership of the investigation or by lending resources and technical support.
• Provide guidance to division personnel around terminal equipment reliability and performance including but not limited to preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Develop and/or approve management of change (MOC) requests for equipment modifications, additions and/or replacements.
• Develop and/or review project scopes including but not limited to drawing reviews and engineering design reviews for projects.
• Coordinate with various company personnel, contractors, and operations to accomplish various assigned projects.
• Identify technical training needs for E&C technicians and assist in the development and implementation of training programs.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Experience and knowledge:
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred or a minimum of two years of maintenance experience with mechanical and pipeline systems, preferably related to engine analysis and equipment automation.
• Knowledge to provide technical guidance, problem resolution and design support for the operations and maintenance of crude oil pump facilities focusing primarily on rotating and positive displacement equipment, controls, and facility systems. Types of equipment supported include equipment drivers, and electric motors, as well as ancillary support systems (i.e., engine cooling systems, lubrication systems, terminal air & electrical systems, etc.).
• A high level of understanding of crude oil terminal control systems, pump fundamentals, and regulatory testing requirements.
• Demonstrate performance and leadership toward operational excellence.
• Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation control systems; experience in PLC programming is a plus.
• Knowledge and experience in safe operating and handling of flammable gases and liquids as well as high pressure liquid systems.
• General knowledge operating and maintenance procedures and practices as well as regulatory and tariff requirements.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:
• A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a current, valid state driver's license.

Competencies, skills, abilities:
• Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work efficiently with a minimum of supervision.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to remotely supervise a highly technical staff spread out at multiple locations performing multiple tasks on a daily basis.
• Must be self-motivated and able to perform the required and expected duties with little or no direct supervision.
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to established work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
• Ability to manage a budget to include tracking committed costs, forecasted costs, and actual spending.
• Strong customer focus in dealing with internal customers (engineering, operations, and various corporate departments) as well external customers.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams.
• Good math, reading, and computer skills (knowledge of MS Office applications is required; Adobe Acrobat, Maximo, SharePoint, and other computer applications are preferred).
• Solid communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak and understand English.

• Must be able to withstand extreme or adverse weather conditions; may have to work outside in all environmental conditions periodically.

• Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working hours and non-working hours as needed.
• Must be available for responding to emergency situations 24/7.
• Travel is required and anticipated up to 50% on average, and may occasionally include out-of-town nights and weekend travel.
• Successful completion of background check and drug screen prior to hire as well as continuous participation in the Company DOT drug and alcohol testing program as required.

Supervisory responsibility: This is a supervisory position.
