Logistics and Trade Compliance Manager - *Hybrid (Finance)

“A Day in the Life”

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics and Trade Compliance Manager to lead our import/export compliance and logistics operations. This role is responsible for overseeing international and domestic shipments, ensuring full compliance with applicable U.S. and international trade regulations, and optimizing logistics performance to support business operations and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in U.S. Customs regulations, import/export documentation, global shipping practices, and international trade strategy. This role will serve as the company's subject matter expert on all trade compliance matters, including tariff classification, export licensing, Chapter 98 usage as a duty mitigation strategy and logistical procedures.

“What You'll Do”

  • Lead, train, and mentor staff covering logistics, shipping, trade compliance, and documentation functions
  • Oversee all import and export activities to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs (19 CFR), BIS (15 CFR), ITAR, FDA, and other government agency requirements as applicable
  • Ensure accurate AES filing, customs entry, valuation, HTS classification, and origin declarations
  • Administer and maintain programs including Chapter 98 returns (9801.00.10, 9801.00.20), temporary exports (Carnet), and duty drawback opportunities
  • Manage denied party screening, export license determination, and use of license exceptions
  • Respond to CBP inquiries (CF28/CF29), coordinate with brokers, and perform post-entry reviews and audits
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver training and SOPs to ensure staff adherence to compliance protocols
  • Stay current with global regulatory changes and implement necessary internal policy updates
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive cost-saving logistics initiatives and improve trade efficiency
  • Lead internal readiness for government audits and internal controls evaluations

“Must Haves”
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in global trade compliance, with proven knowledge of current import/export regulations
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of HTS classification, valuation, country of origin rules, Incoterms, and AES filing
  • Experience with EAR, ITAR, BIS licensing, and CBP entry processes
  • Proficiency in working with U.S. Customs systems (e.g., ACE/ABI/SNAP-R/CARM) and trade compliance software/tools
  • Familiarity with temporary import/export programs, duty drawback, and Chapter 98 provisions

“Nice to Haves”
  • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker or equivalent certification (CCS, CES, CUSECO, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Canadian import/export procedures (CARM, D-Memos)
  • Experience working with electronics or capital equipment industries

This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period (approximately 6 months).
