POS Portal: Payments & POS Technical Sales Engineer (Finance)



Position Overview

We are seeking a Payments and POS Technical Sales Engineer to serve as a strategic solutions architect for our enterprise partners, including software developers, unified commerce platforms, banks, acquirers, and payment processors. This role is responsible for gathering partner requirements, translating them into executable business models, and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with ScanSource's operational, IT, and financial capabilities.

The Technical Sales Engineer works cross-functionally with Operations, IT, Finance, and Account Management to ensure every partnership is structured for scalability, profitability, and long-term success. From presales discovery to partner onboarding and ramp-to-volume, this role plays a critical part in ensuring new partnerships launch smoothly and deliver measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery sessions with prospective partners to capture requirements around fulfillment, compliance, and operational workflows.
  • Translate client requirements into SOPs and workflow documentation covering inbound receiving, staging/provisioning, kitting, deployment, and reverse logistics.
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, IT, and Finance to align partner solutions with system capabilities, cost structures, and scalability.
  • Build internal consensus on proposed business models before commitments are made.
  • Support Account Management teams during onboarding and implementation, ensuring smooth handoff from presales into execution.
  • Partner side-by-side with Account Management as clients ramp to full-volume operations, addressing scaling challenges and validating workflows.
  • Contribute to RFP/RFI responses, proposals, and pricing models by incorporating technical and operational workflows.
  • Provide structured feedback to internal stakeholders on system or process enhancements required to meet client needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Systems, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10 years of experience in sales engineering, solutions consulting, or business/operations consulting within payments, POS, fintech, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of fulfillment workflows (receiving, staging, key injection, kitting, shipping, reverse logistics).
  • Familiarity with payments/POS ecosystems, including gateways, OEM hardware, PCI/P2PE compliance, and integration models.
  • Ability to model partner scenarios against financial frameworks and cost structures.
  • Exposure to ERP/WMS systems, APIs, and system integration is preferred.
  • Exceptional written skills for SOPs, technical proposals, and RFP responses.
  • Strong verbal communication for engaging executives, operators, and engineers.
  • Willingness to travel 15-25% for client workshops and implementation support.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Range: $100,000 - $145,000

Actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on a number of variables including work experience, education and skills/ achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer. This position is not eligible for a variable pay component as part of the hiring range.
