Join our dynamic team at CPM Development as an Payroll Processing Specialist, where you'll play a pivotal role in managing multiple hourly and salaried payrolls along with maintenance of employee master files. You will also assist in establising payroll processes and procedures in accordance with Northwest Region internal controls.

Wage Range: $25.75 - $32.00/hr DOE w/ potential for overtime

What You Can Do (Qualifications)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of accounting education and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous payroll processing experience required.
  • Knowledge of payroll and general accounting, computer skills, and spreadsheet/word processing skills required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Consistently reports for work at scheduled work time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Job cost, prevailing wage and construction industry experience preferred.

Work Requirements:

  • This position has been identified by the employer as non-safety sensitive and will be subject to an employer-required pre-employment drug screening that does not include testing for nonpsychoactive cannabis metabolites
  • This position is not eligible for current or future sponsorship for employment visa status
  • This is an in-person position out of our office in Spokane Valley

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for balancing, reconciling and coordinating with AMAT payroll the processing of all weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for the Northwest Region.
  • Responsible for staying current with local, state and federal payroll rules and laws.
  • Answer employment verification requests and phone inquiries from outside agencies for all locations.
  • Prepare account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Apply basic understanding of federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws (Davis-Bacon and Related Act (DBRA), and other relevant regulations) and knowledge of prevailing wage requirements to support specific projects.
  • Understand, implement, and update accurate fringe benefit calculations, including amortization and offsets as required by jurisdictions.
  • Support for operating company payroll staff as required.
  • Prepare various special reports for management as requested.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform duties according to Northwest Region internal SOX and fraud controls.
  • Observe confidentiality of company information; written and verbal.
  • Observe company safety standards and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Use the Basic Principles in all interactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
