Marketing Analyst (Finance)

Job Summary

The Marketing Analyst will be an essential contributor to the Marketing team at Murphy. The analyst will play an important role in day-to-day reporting, market analysis, and data capture in Marketing systems. Additionally, the analyst will actively manage US crude nomination processes across trucking and pipeline-based crude sales activities.

The Marketing Analyst will work in our Houston headquarters office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities

  • Support scheduling activities, including communications with partners, customers, and pipeline nomination systems
  • Monitor production and sales positions, product flows, and capacity availabilities
  • Work with Marketing Reps to ensure sales operations stability, resiliency, and optimization
  • Maintain daily, weekly and monthly reports relating to Marketing contracts and markets
  • Ensure systems are kept up to date in a timely manner and participate in deal and contract data management processes
  • Provide insights and direction to technical teams to support the development of front office systems and tools
  • Support collaboration with internal groups such as Accounting, Finance, and Compliance

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Energy, Business, Engineering, or Technology related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of energy markets experience as a Front Office analyst and / or scheduler
  • Strong system aptitude with proven Excel skills (must-have) and Python (nice-to-have)
  • Results-oriented with the ability to work independently, prioritize work and multi-task effectively
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical analysis skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative manner with diverse groups of individuals
  • Displays a high-level of integrity in all actions, complying with and promoting the company's core values, a respectful work environment, and aligning with the code of business conduct

Preferred Qualifications

  • Office Apps
  • Python, Database querying tools
  • Power BI, Tableau, business reporting technologies
  • ETRM/CTRM application experience

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
