Position Overview:

We are seeking a Ready-Mix Quality Control Technician to join our team in the Capital District region. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the production of top-quality ready-mix concrete while upholding regulatory compliance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work safely, complying with all OSHA and MSHA regulations and Callanan environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform quality control testing as required by State and local agencies, private, and in accordance with Callanan procedures ensuring the highest quality material is being produced.
  • Communicate and provide test data to plant managers and other pertinent plant personnel in a timely manner.
  • Identify and become familiar with various mix and aggregate specifications while providing process and mix adjustment recommendations as required.
  • Maintain current State agency QC/QA certifications, upholding all aspects of the quality control program and staying in compliance with agency specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date database and record logs.
  • Support and assist internal customers (sales, construction, estimating, operations, and senior management) and external customers by reviewing and providing detailed information/insight on material specifications and test results as requested.
  • Monitor HMA Pavement Quality for Installation on Specific Projects.
  • Monitor and measure temperature thickness, density and overall condition of pavements during installation.
  • Determine density using a density meter and calibrate such meter.
  • Obtain core specimens according to applicable methodology.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests.
  • Ability to evaluate questions or problems effectively, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Must be computer literate. Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and occasional night shifts.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Pre-Employment screens are required before being hired at Callanan Industries Inc.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and dependable transportation to and from the job site.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required

Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree and/or relevant experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • This job will require you to Bend, kneel, squat, lift, climb, stand, walk, fit, reach, drive, fine motor, and repetitive motion frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include bending and walking, with occasional lifting and/or moving of items up to 100 pounds.
