Research Scientist (Finance)



The Dharap Lab at the Byrd Alzheimer's Center and Research Institute and Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of South Florida has 2 full-time Research Scientist positions available. The primary responsibility of the Research Scientist will be to conduct wet-lab research using in vitro and in vivo models of brain injury and neurodegeneration under the supervision of the lab head. The duties include conducting experiments independently, data analysis, contributing to writing manuscripts, and maintaining and managing inventory. Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, animal handling, tissue dissection, and basic molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA isolation, protein extraction, agarose gel electrophoresis, etc., is required. Experience with human cerebral organoids is highly desirable. Experience in advanced wet-lab techniques in biochemistry, cell biology, or molecular biology is a plus. The candidate is expected to be well-organized, work well in a group setting, and regularly maintain a lab notebook. Accurate record-keeping and attention to detail are critical for this role.Minimum Qualification Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a natural, physical or medical science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of wet-lab research experience in an academic setting.
  • Prior experience in neuroscience research, particularly in stroke or neurodegeneration.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
