Program Director 2 (Law, Student Services - Registrar) (Finance)

Description:

Responsible for the operations of a large program or center at the university. Oversees staff, budgets, and projects.

1. Oversees a large department, program or center.
2. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
3. Hires and directs the activities of staff.
4. Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
5. Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
6. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
7. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
8. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.
9. Performs other job-related duties as required.

The position works closely with and under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs' (OSA) Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA) at the University of Houston Law Center to manage the academic records and data for all students enrolled at the Law Center and maintains course enrollment, academic calendars and schedules, and other details related to curriculum management.

Given the position's deep involvement with data management, a bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, or a related field is required. Applicants with an advanced degree in a related field will be thoughtfully considered. Additionally, given OSA's heavy administrative load and the position's duty to contribute to OSA administrative tasks, experience in the following areas is highly preferred: customer service; record-keeping; data management and tracking; and event management and programming.

The position's primary responsibilities are as follows:

Serve as the Law Center's point of contact for all registrar related information matters, which include student record keeping; transcript and diploma fulfillment; curriculum management; graduate transfer credit assessments; and student information system processing.

Manage course registration processes, grade submissions, exam scheduling, and support course selection and advising activities.

Oversee graduation audits, monitor degree progress, manage student records, and ensure compliance with academic policies and procedures.

Develop and maintain academic publications, websites, and graduation materials, and serve as a liaison for communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Collect and manage data for reports, assessments, and accreditation, and assists with processing student petitions, appeals, and other academic actions.

Manage other staff members who oversee other functional areas within OSA.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
Certification/Licensing: None.
