Senior Financial Analyst - Walkersville Based (Biotech)

This position will provide financial, analytical, and business partnering support for the Walkersville support teams, with a strong focus on partnering with one of the site's asset heads. The success of the role depends on delivering timely and accurate financial analysis and providing effective functional support to plant leadership, project teams, and asset-centric leaders. The role will also support the justification of both capital and ad hoc project requests. It will provide forecasting insights in collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Technical Functions, and other plant teams to ensure effective cost control across the site. Working directly with site controlling and department heads, this role plays a key part in ensuring that business expectations are accurately reflected in budgets, forecasts, and actual results. This is a hybrid position based at our Walkersville, MD facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business teams to supervise primary and secondary costs, supporting important metric implementation and providing accurate project spend reporting

  • Perform regular analysis of business unit performance, identifying areas for improvement and supporting cost control efforts

  • Support monthly financial close activities, including accruals, cost variance analysis, inventory valuation, and revaluation processes

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare forecasts and budgets for capital projects, cost centers, and operational functions

  • Drive updates to BOMs and recipes and provide financial insights that support better decision-making across departments

  • Assist with fixed asset verification and support the tracking and validation of innovation projects

  • Contribute to the development of performance evaluation tools and lead initiatives to improve internal controls, particularly around inventory

  • Champion innovation and automation in reporting, continuously seeking opportunities to streamline processes and improve financial visibility

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred

  • 3–5 years of relevant finance, cost controlling, or FP&A experience, preferably in a manufacturing, life sciences, or industrial setting

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights

  • Proficient in financial systems and tools (e.g., SAP, Power BI, Excel); experience with forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

  • Ability to manage several priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative attitude

  • Meticulous with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and technical teams

  • Familiarity with capital project justification, BOM/recipe management, and inventory control processes is a plus

  • Continuous improvement attitude with a focus on innovation and automation in reporting and analysis

We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities; while also allowing for differentiation on performance based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at the company between the lower and the middle part of the applicable range. We tailor our offers within the range based on job-related factors, including organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic area and the selected candidate's experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and/or communication skills and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. This range is only inclusive of base salary, and base pay is just one component of Lonza's total compensation package for employees.
