SUMMARY: Primary duties of this position include managing staff and operations of the plant, directing production and related inventory, maintenance, and safety functions, and assuring that the plant operates on a cost effective and customer satisfaction basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Maintains a culture of safety.
Plans and directs the daily operating and maintenance functions of the block facility in accordance with established standards for product quality and operating efficiencies.
Maintains effective working relationships with employees. Hires, trains, develops, and supervises all plant employees to achieve desired results. Handles performance problems promptly and fairly.
Assists with the development of new products.
Monitors the operating efficiencies of plant facilities and equipment and participates in new or replacement facilities/equipment planning and purchasing. Plans and makes regular replacement purchases such as molds, maintenance supplies and tools, and similar items. Manages parts inventory.
Performs regular quality inspections and controls of manufactured products.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education, experience, and skills:
High School education or GED.
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding of production standards and procedures.
Proven leadership and development skills in directing a team required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work under pressure with tight schedules and under stressful situations.
Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions even in the absence of complete information.
Must be well organized.
Must have good math skills with the ability to read and understand production equipment manuals and specifications, production costing issues, and product quality specifications.
Physical, mental and environmental requirements: This is a high energy and mentally demanding position. Daily problem solving is needed using engineering concepts and specifications and interpersonal skills. Good vision and hearing are required to communicate with a variety of employees, suppliers, and other management staff. Must be able to distinguish colors, size and other elements concerning the Company's products and materials. Some occasional lifting of objects up to 100 pounds may be required along with regular standing, walking, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping of objects. Although most work is performed inside of an office and production plant, some outside work activities are also required which are subject to seasonal Midwest weather conditions (summer heat and winter cold) dirt, dust, oils and equipment noise. Some travel may occur requiring a valid operator's license and good driving record. Position also requires high levels of personal integrity and initiative.
