Plant Maintenance/Welder

Position Overview

Responsible for performing maintenance, equipment installation, repair and troubleshooting involving general improvement, upkeep and maintenance of industrial production facilities. Ideal candidate will have industrial plant maintenance experience and exhibit a broad based troubleshooting skillset, fluent in industrial welding and fabrication, knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, electrical, chain drives, gearboxes, electronic controls

  • Communicates with Maintenance Manager on issues affecting equipment maintenance, personnel, and safety
  • Maintains and reports to Maintenance Manager with weekly project list
  • Participate in a preventative maintenance program to service plant equipment and facilities
  • Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor
  • Maintains project schedules and coordinates own daily work load
  • Ability to read drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Must be able to use metal working tools (i.e. saws, grinders, torches, etc.)
  • Ability to understand welding symbols and specifications
  • Weld, repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Must be able to perform set-ups for jobs (build custom welding jigs according to requirements)
  • Performs routine maintenance on building's interior and exterior
  • Performs cleanup and housekeeping duties around shops, offices, and restrooms
  • Contacts and schedules vendors and contractors for necessary emergencies repairs that are outside the scope of routine maintenance
  • Work on projects with company maintenance crew and contractors
  • Maintain and operate field service truck
  • Follow proper lockout / tag out procedures
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times
  • Works with Plant Managers to establish timing of scheduled production plant maintenance according to factors such as production schedules, personnel for assistance, and availability of parts and equipment required for the repair
  • Works with Quality Control Manager and Plant Managers to schedule and perform annual plant and equipment certifications
  • Works with and Maintenance Manager to schedule maintenance personnel update training and certifications
  • Works with Safety Department to correct safety and maintenance deficiencies
  • Ensures that equipment and facilities are in compliance with LRC, OSHA, and EPA regulations
  • Assists with scale calibrations at ready mix production plants

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to manipulate or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Depending on site location, the noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud. Hearing protection will be necessary in loud environments.
