About the Role:

Elanco Animal Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Project Coordinator with a strong focus on carbon project design, project management, and sustainability standards and methodologies. This critical role will contribute to both innovation and development of new and commercialized livestock sustainability programs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of carbon project design; measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MMRV) principles; key carbon accounting standards and methods; and project and account management. This role will require the candidate to translate their carbon project expertise into writing methodologies and designing programs in beef and dairy and communicating effectively with CPGs and processors about these programs. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively to address complex greenhouse gas accounting and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carbon Project Design: Contribute to the design and development of new carbon programs and evolution of existing programs. Contribute to MMRV & operational design. Build requirements for associated tools & platforms to meet design needs.
  • Project Management: Project end-to-end project management of program design, pilots, and program updates. Build project plans, communicate and document milestones and progress, develop RACIs and associated project management tools. Move programs through stage gate process.  Work cross functionally (technical, marketing, IT, operations) to drive on time delivery of programs.
  • Methodology Development: write and revise program methodologies in partnership with technical team and sustainability program teams.
  • Standards & Methodologies: maintain working knowledge of key standards and guidance & apply to carbon project design, including Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science Based Targets, Verra & Gold Standard. Communicate and educate teams on key principles. Participate in industry workgroups as appropriate.
  • Validation and Verification: Manage engagement with validation and verification bodies. Partner with commercial teams to drive successful on-farm verification engagements  
  • Account Management: Manage communication and relationship with key partners during development and execution of programs. Support program pitches and contracting.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in sustainability
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in project management
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in agriculture
  • Deep understanding of carbon markets, carbon project design, and greenhouse gas accounting principles (emphasis on Scope 3 accounting)
  • Demonstrated experience applying key methodologies & standards in carbon project design – e.g. voluntary carbon market experience, Scope 3 program design, consulting, or MMRV design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Fluency in English

What You Need to Have a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 4 years of experience in sustainability
  • Experience in dairy & beef sustainability programs
  • Strong understanding of dairy and feedlot/beef production systems, including direct engagement with producers
  • Knowledge of dairy and beef carbon foot printing approaches
  • Experience with third party validation and verification engagements
  • Experience working with consumer package good companies and processors

Additional Information:

  • Travel: Up to 15% annually.
  • Location: Indianapolis, IN HQ (Hybrid)
