HVAC Technician (Maintenance)
SUMMARY: Serve as general consultant and liaison for the Weatherization Program and any other energy-saving program products or measures. Services to include the delivery and installation for qualified customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces heating source and water heaters in residential homes. (Dual pack units, wall furnace, direct vent furnace, and FAU.)Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools and diagnostic instruments (monoxers and duct blaster).Provides a materials list and an accurate estimate in order to complete jobs.Prioritizes and manages different tasks to be completed.Follows all safety regulations.Ensures quality and compliance of all installations and repairs to utility standards and city building codes.Follows and implements verbal and written directions.Cleans and fine tunes furnace and FAUs.Documents and reports work performed to ensure accurate billing.Loads and unloads materials from trucks as needed.Ensures client satisfaction by exhibiting consideration, courtesy, professionalism and promptness in carrying out all duties of the program.Travels to meetings, trainings, and program update meetings/conferences, as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent. One year experience installing weatherization measures, including doors, door modifications, window units, water heaters, furnaces, and handyman-type work, or equivalent.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic computer skills required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating Weatherization Specialist (Installer) and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees or organizations. Must be personable and be able to effectively communicate with others from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Access to transportation, California drivers license, and minimum auto insurance as required by law. Must maintain good driving record.
