Job Summary

 

The Accountant Intern is responsible for supporting management in  various accounting functions to support departmental and organizational goals.  This individual will support and assist with the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in their day-to-day work to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.  This position is an on-site (non-remote) position in San Antonio, TX.

 

 

Duties

The Accountant Intern will support and assist management and other accounting professionals to apply advanced knowledge to successfully

 

  • Perform various account reconciliations
  • Develop division budget and generate management reports
  • Maintain fixed asset listing and depreciation
  • Prepare and maintain month-end schedules
  • Prepare and record journal entries
  • Provide continuous support and training to project managers and other company personnel as needed
  • Assist with regulatory and financial audits
  • Comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process

 

 

Skills/Abilities Required

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

 

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to contract sites in 9 states.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

 Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program from an accredited university with a major concentrating  in Accounting, Finance, Economics, etc.

 

Experience

 

  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Knowledge of GAAP preferred
  • Knowledge of Sage Intaact or similar Accounting Software preferred
  • Federal Contracting and/or Service Contract Labor Standards experience preferred
