Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Supplier Quality Inspector at our Danbury location. With a focus on electro-mechanical and/or electro optical systems, you will have exposure to Supplier Management, Quality Management Systems, Root Cause and Corrective Action, Continuous Improvement, Data Analysis and Inspection Methods. The successful candidate will have a passion for growing and evolving within a dynamic environment and be able to perform inspections on both electrical and mechanical assemblies at supplier locations, witness testing to ensure compliance, and provide quality oversight when needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect purchased and manufactured parts and materials for conformity to J-STD and NASA-STD, specifications, and processing requirements
  • Inspect microelectronics
  • Improve supplier quality performance by analyzing performance data, identifying opportunities for improvement and coordinating actions on supplier development for the better success of the business
  • Support material nonconformances identified in Receiving Inspection and effectively communicate issues to suppliers as needed
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in pursuit of performance improvements aligned to department and organizational goals
  • Perform Quality System audits as a lead AS9100 QMS auditor
  • Perform high precision inspections to Quality Assurance instructions
  • Record inspection results into ERP system
  • Use various measuring devices and testing equipment to accept or reject units or systems. Work from specifications using high-powered microscopes, eye-loops and ultraviolet lights
  • Maintain records of defective parts and types
  • Maintain records of inspection results
  • Make pass/fail decisions on inspected goods
  • 50% travel on average

Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years in a quality control role
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability and willingness to travel on average 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with manufactured products incorporating mechanical and electrical commodities
  • Experience with inspecting to J-STD-001, IPC-610, NASA standards
  • J-STD-001 and NASA certified
  • Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO9000, Quality Management System (QMS) standards
  • Ability to interface with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Quality Engineering to help solve material issues
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high degree of flexibility
  • Hands-on experience in assembly, integration and testing with electro-mechanical and/or electro optical system with an emphasis on complex high reliability electronic assemblies
  • Proficient in understanding of conducting root cause analysis for simple to moderate nonconformities and implementation of effective corrective action preferred
  • Experience in conducting audits
  • Ability to read and interpret military and industry specifications
  • Experience with manufactured products incorporating mechanical and electrical commodities.
  • Self-disciplined with a proven track record of driving project deadlines/milestones within a dynamic environment while maintaining the highest standard of compliance and quality.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to lead and resolve issues
  • MS Office Suite: proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Proven track record of utilizing ERP systems (SAP experience a plus)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions, occasionally operate tools and/or machinery with hands and arms and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. The employee will use protective equipment when working with chemicals, move between workstations, reach, and replace equipment, and move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
