Job Description
Intuitive is the pioneer in robotic surgery, designing and manufacturing complex systems for use with da Vinci and ION procedures. These systems employ a combination of reusable, single use surgical instruments and accessories for each surgical procedure.

The Corporate Initiatives Program Manager will run cross-functional teams and organizes a diverse set of activities of the Program Management Office (PMO) for important corporate initiatives or programs that are outside of the typical new product development activities directly linked to Intuitive's business units.

The Program Manager orchestrates the activities of their project teams to deliver compelling business outcomes for Intuitive. The Program Manager must be highly organized and detail-oriented and interact fluidly and effectively with numerous individuals and departments at all levels of the organization. The Program Manager will have a close working relationship with a wide variety of functions according to the nature of each project which will vary significantly.

Essential Job Duties

Program Delivery

  • Explores business issues holistically, accurately identifying major challenges and opportunities, from which a clear program can be scoped, planned and executed.
  • Engages collaborators across the organization to interpret their business needs, project requirements and business outcomes to develop clear targets and goals for the program.
  • Clearly defines charters, having identified scope, work to be done, required teams and relevant costs.
  • Identifies resource demand and skill sets for project teams including estimating project work efforts, needs, roles and responsibilities.
  • Uses experience and appropriate tools to diagnose emerging problems and appropriate solutions.
  • Successfully manages collaborator's expectations providing relevant communications to keep managers from across the business informed, aligned and where required, closely engaged.
  • Oversees all aspects of the program until the solutions are fully embedded in the business.
  • Accountable for developing program schedules based on work required and drive execution via core team
  • Closely drives benefit management to ensure the business achieves all its goals, program deliverables, hard and soft benefits and ultimately any mutual ROI.
  • Effectively manages change control for the program, to avoid scope creep and ensure projects deliver on time, against their goals.
  • Effectively manages risk to help ensure the programs complete on time, with the funding and resources that were intended on.
  • Build and drive high performing cross-functional teams to deliver results in sometimes challenging and ambiguous conditions.
  • Facilitate best practices and feedback to PMO organization and seek areas of process improvements

Approach Definition:
  • Finalizes and owns the standard framework for undertaking corporate initiatives.
  • Captures and documents the key tools that help in the delivery of broad ranging business improvement programs
  • Works with PMO leadership to set up and deliver appropriate training modules for more junior PMs and core team members of these corporate initiatives, so they are well prepared to undertake the work.
  • Identifies a simple but robust change management approach that will act as a guide for all corporate initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • BS degree in a scientific / engineering field plus. Or MS degree plus 8 years' experience.
  • 12 + years' experience leading teams in medical device industry and/or non-medical devices operating in highly regulated industry.
  • Exceptional project/program management, planning, decision making, negotiating, communication, and change management skills
  • An excellent business acumen with proven track record in business problem assessment, process redesign, organization redesign and benefit delivery.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, product strategy and business management

Nice to have:
  • A highly passionate person who cares deeply about delivering improved surgical solutions to patients and has a proven ability to coordinate the efforts of talented people
  • Experience in studying tradeoffs between solution desirability, feasibility, and viability
  • Demonstrates ability to synthesize data, set actionable goals and drive metrics and execution
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP)
  • Proven ability to drive, influence and work well at all levels of an organization and in a cross functional team environment
  • Experience with leading cross-functional teams that includes many different disciplines
  • Exceptional aptitude for cultivating partnership across department boundaries and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority to ensure project success
  • Proven success recognizing critical issues with the ability to react quickly under pressure, and drive issues to closure by providing coordinated direction
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, different priorities simultaneously; must work well under pressure, be flexible, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal), presentation and documentation skills and high EQ
  • Solid people management skills with ability to ensure team success.
  • Seasoned in coaching and developing team members.
  • Energetic person with a drive for results, who knows accountable, has a great attitude, and is a team-player; self-starter with high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow through
  • Willing to go the extra mile with a dedicated work ethic; self-directed and resourceful with the ability to deal with conflict and drive to solution
  • Ability to handle ambiguity effectively and oversee multiple projects at once
  • Ability to supervise a large number of people on a variety of programs

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $196.600 USD - $282.800 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $167.000 USD - $240.400 USD
Shift: Day
