Utility Coordinator (OPC) (Architecture)

Responsibilities

OPC Highway

What you'll be challenged to do:

OPC, a division of TranSystems, has an immediate opening for a Utility Coordinator in our Energy & Utility group who provides project engineering and utility coordination with a focus on transportation projects, pipeline projects and public transportation clients throughout the Southern California Region. Anticipated work tasks may include developing utility base maps, coordinate with utility owners and agencies, develop relocation strategies, assist in preparation of cost estimates, preparation of engineering plans and specification for utility relocations. The Utility Administrator will work independently as well as assist groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technician's dependent on project/task. Will be involved in highway, pipeline and railroad utility design and plans production for utility owners and Municipal clients. Creates and maintains positive rapport and nurtures relationships with all project stakeholders and clients.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities (others may be assigned):

 

  • Schedule and attend utility meetings, public utility meetings, individual utility meetings, Municipality / Agency coordination meetings.
  • Establish training program and train staff on all aspects of Utility Cooperative Management Process.
  • Develop procedures, systems, and methods for project delivery of utility coordination projects to various clients.
  • Provide quality reviews (QA/QC) of utility agreement assembly and billing packages. Establish quality checklists, as needed.
  • Review plans and estimates to evaluate compliance with agency guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  • Review and/or process utility estimates and/or budgets
  • Identify and solicit project opportunities with public, private, and utility owner clients.
  • Assist with technical approaches for utility coordination project pursuits.
  • Interface with clients to ensure excellent service and explore opportunities for additional assignments such as utility design, SUE, Survey, and utility easement acquisition.
  • Travel to project locations as needed.
  • Represent OPC at client meetings and performing client coordination.
  • Apply technical expertise and be able to work with a project team on conventional and unconventional projects.
  • Perform independent research and delegate changing priorities.
  • Work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate work product that is error free.
  • Adhere to OPC's safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.


Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree or other relevant degree program.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a case-by-case basis.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of Utility Coordination experience.
  • Direct working experience with ROW and Utility policies/procedures.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PDF.
  • Ability to read and interpret applicable plans, schematics, blueprints, and maps.
  • Expertise with principles of utility coordination and associated terminology.
  • Strong Communication and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Motivation to work in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or NY City, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000 - $85,000 annually.
