Human Resources Manager (Manufacturing)



Key Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain local policies and procedures in accordance with regulations; train employees on new or changed policies and procedures; supervise all HR and payroll functions at the plant
  • Serve as plant Safety Representative responsible for training, monitoring, and reporting of plant safety; administer and track costs for workers compensation claims; serve as a management representative on the safety committee
  • Assist employees with on-line benefit selection process; promote company health and wellness programs and assist with employee benefit questions; communicate benefit changes to employee population and oversees annual benefits enrollment
  • Recruit qualified candidates for hourly job openings and intern programs; coordinate and participate in candidate interview and selection process; work with staffing agencies to ensure flexible staffing needs maintained; ensure that all employees are trained in accordance with established training guidelines; monitor and work to improve employee retention
  • Serve as a company representative within local community business activities

Essentials for Success:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources; PHR/SPHR certification preferred
  • A minimum of six years of HR experience
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration
  • Practical knowledge / compliance of federal and state employment regulations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be responsive and persuasive at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Computer aptitude (primarily with Microsoft Office) and some experience with a HRIS
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak English

Education/Certification

Level Required Bachelor's

Level Desired Bachelor's Degree

Description Field of Study: Human Resources, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP Preferred

Work Experience

Required Minimum 6 years of relevant experience

Knowledge of major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the Human Resources (HR) function or department; ability to use and administer the organization's HR policies, strategies and environment Knowledge of and ability to use the organization's and industry's standards, procedures and policies relevant to human resources management Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and ability to advise on laws and regulations affecting HR practices Knowledge of HR approaches, tools and techniques; ability to inform, guide and advise managers in HR-related initiatives Knowledge of and ability to plan and develop an organization's HR operations in order to increase individual and organizational effectiveness Knowledge of and ability to implement HR related tasks, processes, and projects to ensure smooth daily HR operations
