Sr Director, Product Management - US1

Summary

The Senior Director, Global Service & Solutions Product Management is responsible for leading the team defining service strategy, roadmap development / realization and commercial strategy along with global product marketing approaches for the service offerings aligned to instrument platforms, billable, and professional services. The Global Service & Solutions business represents ~10% of Illumina's revenue. This role reports to the Vice President, Global Service & Solutions and is tightly aligned with Global Product Marketing (SAGA) and Regions, Head of Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads a team that assesses market opportunities & trends and customer needs for instrument services (contract), billable services (labor, parts, room moves, IQ/OQ/PQ) and developing a more comprehensive professional (consultative/clinical) service offering. This strategy includes the assessment and tracking of the technology and competitive landscape in partnership with global product marketing, commercial and service leadership, and regional marketing, sales, and service teams
  • Develops strategic plan for investment and revenue growth in the services market, focused on target segments
  • Creates and develops the next generation of professional services across multiple product and business lines (SQ, MA, SW, Bioinformatics, and Clinical)
  • Team synthesizes customer needs across segments and determines portfolio requirements
  • Team matches technological solutions (leveraging existing products, 3rd party products, or new services) to meet current and emerging market & customer requirements
  • Delivers concise strategic overviews for services aligned to emerging application areas in NGS, Bioinformatics, Proteomics, Arrays, and Clinical
  • Interfaces with global product marketing and business development toward the successful execution of the business strategy including successful execution of acquisition and/or partnership opportunities
    - Product (Services) Lifecycle Management
  • Works collaboratively with Global Product Marketing to ensure service strategies are implemented and effective within each region.
  • Leads and manages the product management team regarding Product Lifecycle activities including new service proposals, development related activities, product launch readiness & technical content for new product introductions (NPI's), product conversions and/or end of life (EOL) activities for the services portfolio
  • The ability to directly and indirectly influence others within a global and functional matrix to deliver product strategies on behalf of GSS.
  • Playbook development and operationalizing the integration of services products into Illumina ecosystem for sales across all regions
  • Financial Management • Designs / implements effective forecasting models in partnership with key stakeholders (quarterly, annual, and 2-5 Year) with granularity at the product family, market segment and regional level • Sets high level pricing strategy in coordination with Pricing COE including regional drivers
  • Strategic and operational minded to understand performance drivers within regions and make necessary changes to increase service revenue
  • Sets and delivers against service revenue and profitability goals
  • Cross-functional Leadership • Serves as primary contact for services portfolio strategy across relevant teams (Research & Development, Product Marketing, etc.)
  • Ownership and accountability to deliver at or above target regionally supporting Regional Head and team
  • Provides input (e.g., product, service needs) to R&D and technical platform roadmap
  • Partners with product marketing to provide guidance, input, and sign-off for GTM strategy and plans
  • Partners closely with global and regional product marketing teams and service sales specialist teams

Qualifications Minimum Requirements
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 20 years of related experience, with 12+ years of Management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of IVD experience in commercial/marketing and/or service-related roles
  • 10+ years of partnership/JV opportunity monetization within commercial and service-related roles
  • Ability and experience developing holistic and comprehensive business strategies managing both long-term strategy and executional detail
  • Experience managing diverse, multi-faceted teams
  • Ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups within a global, matrixed organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Sound business judgment and discretion for managing service portfolio; ability to develop and execute against dynamic timelines
  • Organizational capabilities to leverage organizations to proactively execute against business goals

The estimated base salary range for the Sr. Director, Services Product Management role based in the United States of America is: $220,500 - $330,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
