Post Doctoral Fellow - Public Policy (Finance)

Description:

Possesses, understands, and applies a comprehensive knowledge in area of specialization. Develops understanding and skills to allow for completion of assignments that cross fields of specialization. Develops leadership and management skills.

1. Receives/Reviews progress and evaluates results of experiments or projects under control or supervisory responsibility.
2. Recommends changes in research, testing or experimental procedures.
3. May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment.
4. May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
5. May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
6. Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
7. May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

The Center for Public Policy (CPP) sat the University of Houston Hobby School of Public Affairs invites applications for a postdoctoral position in quantitative social science. The initial appointment will be for one year beginning in August or September of 2025, with the possibility of one renewal contingent on funding.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is designed to be a career-building step for scholars in public policy. Primary duties for the scholar are to develop his or her research program in public policy, preferably with applications to the public policy dimensions of the energy transition, climate change, or circular economy. The postdoctoral fellow will also support the CPP research, grant applications, and outreach. During the academic year the fellow will teach one or two courses.

Position Qualifications:
Required: PhD in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies or related fields. Applicants with, or nearing completion of, a doctoral degree in fields mentioned above will also be considered. The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate expertise in quantitative methods, potential for publishing research, a collaborative/respectful approach to work, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects to achieve performance objectives. Individuals with cross-cutting disciplinary and methodological interests are particularly encouraged to apply. The applicant must also have strong written and oral communication skills.
